  Office Furniture 18x18 oil on stretched canvas $195 A scene at Campbell Avenue and Walnut Street in downtown Springfield. I did a lot of knife work on this one. I find it helps me paint in a looser style, something I've been trying to do. It's easy to get bogged down in capturing every little detail, so much so that the finished product looks more like attempted photography than a painting.

20x16, oil on stretched canvas $250 The elegant Beaver Creek Bridge has stood amid the natural beauty of Wind Cave National Park, South Dakota, since 1929. This is another piece inspired by last fall's Western trip.

16x20 oil on canvas, 2013 $250 I like old signs with their weathered patina. Most modern signs just don't compare. If you ever drove down Kearney Street very much, you probably noticed this small but enduring landmark. The sign has since been removed.

16x20 oil, 2013 NFS This was the first portrait I'd painted in decades, and it is ... a cat. My daughter's cat, actually. His name was Frank, aka Frank the Tank. I've never done many portraits, not because there's anything wrong with portraits, but because I never felt like I was very good at them. But for my daughter's favorite feline, I was willing to make an exception.

20x16 oil on stretched canvas 2013 $195.00 I spent a few evenings at this place back when. Even saw a movie or two. The screen, the snackbar and even the sign are  long gone. The site is now a lonely field on East Kearney Street in Springfield, Mo.

Oil on canvas, 20x16 , 2013 I have a collection of these old newspaper delivery tubes. I've picked them up here and there over the years. Fitting, I suppose, since I was a newspaper guy for more than 30 years. I was looking at the tubes one day, and one thing led to another. Here is the result. $250
